About
The Maker & The Journey
Stephanie (Steph) Sanderson
My life has always been a search for what lies beneath the surface.
I was born and raised in Bermuda — a beautiful, light-bathed island full of hidden shipwrecks, and ancient mystery.
My childhood was spent hunting for buried treasures, time-worn glass and shells. I was a child obsessed with archaeology, mythology, and the old stories, fascinated by the timeless wisdom they revealed.
I was captivated by crystals and gemstones, drawn to their depth and the way their beauty felt transcendent. I was constantly making art and devouring books.
My heritage is a layered blend of cultures, a background that directly shapes my work and the Relic aesthetic. I am drawn to themes and symbols that cross cultures and barriers; those ancient ideas that remain constant regardless of geography.
My journey into jewellery has been one of return and transformation. About two decades ago, I was creating pieces in Bermuda where my early work was sold in a prominent boutique on Hamilton’s Front Street. That era was my first true initiation into the craft.
After twenty years and a corporate career, finding my way back to the bench felt like recovering a missing part of myself. Working with metal and flame became my alchemy—a way to turn thought into physical form.
Relic is where my heritage, intuition, and love of ancient wisdom converge.
Today, ‘unearthed treasures’ are slow-crafted in my private studio on the edge of Dartmoor. I live here with my husband — who is from Cornwall — and our three children, surrounded by the rugged Devon wild. Living between ancient landscapes. I make with heart, and a deep respect for both people and planet.
I believe that intentional adornment can be a doorway to deeper understanding. Everything is connected. And that sacred thread is woven into every piece I shape.
Thank you for choosing jewellery with soul—it is an honour to create the pieces that become part of your story.
