Description:

The spiral is one of humanity’s oldest symbols; from the 17,000-year-old carvings in the Lascaux caves to the Neolithic stones of Newgrange, it has served as a primary archetype for the infinite, cyclical nature of our own evolution.

This piece is an emblem of the infinite cycles of life, spiritual evolution, and the path of the self. By hand-hammering and forging this form to hold a black onyx at its centre, the design creates a physical circuit of protection.

I selected black onyx for its protective qualities. Onyx is a natural chalcedony and has been revered since the Roman era as a stone of transmutation and protection against negative forces.

I hand hammered and forged this spiral made of thick silver wire, with a beautiful weight to it, to honour the ancient spirals that have been found since prehistoric times. It is deliberately raw and organically shaped.

This talisman is intended to honour the sacred spiral, and to ground and protect the wearer on life’s journey.

Forged from solid recycled sterling silver, the spiral is hand-hammered to create a rugged, 'found' shape and texture that echoes the weathered stones and amulets of ancient Britain.
