Description:

Unlike mass-produced uniform strands, this pearl necklace embraces the rebellious beauty that is found in organic-looking textures and shapes.

Each freshwater pearl carries its own distinctive topography, shaped by years of natural biological processes inside a shell.

These are not sterile, flawless pearls… and that is precisely their magic. They have been chosen for the richness in the irregularities giving each strand a unique feel and old-world character. They are pearls often cast aside, but reclaimed here to tell a story of natural creation.

Historically, because a pearl is born from an oyster or mussel protecting itself from an irritant, cultures around the world have revered them as protective charms. They symbolise the power to take life's challenges and transform them into something beautiful.

I have traditionally hand-knotted these pearls on fine Griffin silk thread for strength and protection. This necklace is made slowly and with intention in my private studio in the UK.
